Hi! My name is Brooke Steele. Thanks for checking out my portfolio. I am a recent graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in Art & Design, a minor in Set Design, and an emphasis in computer science. My work revolves around using art and technology to craft a stunning experience with users of my pieces. Whether it be graphic, web, or user design, I have done it all at my time at the University of Michigan.
I am currently employed as a graphic and user experience designer at the Duderstadt library. I research how students use our workspaces in order to optimize what we provide and clear up and missing gaps. Alongside this, I work with the marketing team to create promotional materials to be sent university wide on Digital Media Commons events. It's been a fantastic learning experience and I feel I've made a real impact in reviving the Digital Media Commons, a job made necessary after we were closed for 2 years due to covid. Before I leave, my current role is to mentor the next generation of students after me, archive the materials I have created for them over the years, and continue doing my work .
Since May 2024 I have been employed by Brain J. Trim as his sole web designer for his two companies, the Motown Sounds and Spectrum Theatre. Coded entirely in html & css, the websites are made as promotional pieces for his brand and legacy.
I also work at Necto, a nightclub in Ann Arbor, as their light programmer. This is a fun way for me to combine my knowledge of computer science with my enthusiam for lighting design. User experience matters greatly here, as I have to use my knowledge of the crowd real-time to create lighting cues to elevate the mood.
